Posted May 9, 2014. The Focus MK2 Petrol version does not have a changeable fuel filter. There is only a strainer which is mounted on the intake of the fuel pump in the fuel tank. As far as I know the strainer is not available as a spare part. If you want to change the strainer you have to replace the complete fuel sender unit. The computer is claiming there is an "engine systems fault". Again a 1.8 TDCI. I didnt fill the filter when originally replaced. Since seeing this post I've filled the fuel filter prior to cranking. Still no joy. I'm fairly certain that there is air in the system. I get the impression that the fuel pump isnt trying to draw fuel from the filter.
